Chula Vista man, 61, fatally crashes into tree in Otay Ranch [Breaking]
A 61-year-old man died late Monday morning after crashing into a tree in the Otay Ranch area of Chula Vista, police said.
It happened about 11:30 a.m. on La Media Road south of Birch Road and west of Olympian High School, Chula Vista police Sgt. Anthony Molina wrote in a news release. A resident who lives in the area reported the crash, telling police that she heard a loud wreck and then looked outside her window to see a vehicle had slammed into a tree, Molina said.
Police and firefighters responded, but the man died at the scene, Molina said. his name was not released. Investigators were probing what caused the victim to hit the tree, but don’t believe any other vehicles were involved in the crash and do not suspect the driver was under the influence of alcohol or drugs, Molina said.Anyone that may have witnessed the crash was asked to call the Chula Vista police traffic bureau at 476-5320.
