Investigators determined the fire that caused significant damage to a West Dallas church Wednesday afternoon was an accident, according to Dallas Fire-Rescue.

Investigators believe the blaze Wednesday that severely damaged a church in West Dallas afternoon was “accidental,” according to fire officials.

Shortly after 5:30 p.m., emergency crews were dispatched to a fire at Dallas Indian Revival Center, at Ivanhoe Lane and Pollard Street, according to Dallas Fire-Rescue. There were an unknown number of workers on the roof of the church when the fire was reported, but they were able to escape uninjured, Dallas Fire-Rescue said.

“Combustible materials” in the roof church caught fire from a torch one of the workers was using, Dallas Fire-Rescue said.
