Citi has promoted Alex Allegos to run its corporate banking business in Australia and New Zealand.

Alex Allegos, head of Citi’s Melbourne corporate banking unit, has taken over responsibilities for the wider Australia/NZ team.The bank told staff on Friday that Allegos, a 19-year veteran at Citi and managing director, would become its head of the integrated corporate bank for the region, subject to regulatory approvals.

The memo said he would be responsible for lending and other banking services to corporates, financial institutions, public sector clients and global subsidiaries . Allegos was head of Citi’s Melbourne-based corporate bankers. He replaces Stella Choe, who now runs the bank’s global subsidiaries business for the Asia Pacific.
