Man Utd want to sign a forward next year but the type of player they need should already be obvious.
This season is only four games old but Manchester United's decision-makers will already have an eye on the scope of their transfer business next summer.
Plenty can of course change between now and next summer, but there has to be a good chance a right-back features near the top of the list. Another central defender is likely if one of Victor Lindelof or Harry Maguire leaves and another forward will feature highly if, as expected, this is Anthony Martial's final season at Old Trafford.
Both are pure No. 9s at a similar age and of a similar profile. They do their best work centrally, in and around the penalty area. It's hard to envisage them in the same team and difficult to see how either graduates into the role of a wide forward. It's similar at Chelsea, where Nicolas Jackson has been the centre-forward, but players like Raheem Sterling and Christopher Nkunku can do both roles. Likewise at Tottenham, where Richarlison and Son-Heung Min have started centrally this season but can also play wide.
