Chief Financial Officer Ben Gorzell said the total tax relief citywide is expected to total about $134.1 million in 2024, up from almost $95 million in 2023. The city of San Antonio property tax makes up about one-fifth of homeowners' property tax bills, while the remainder comes from Bexar County, school districts, the San Antonio River Authority and University Health.
The city is doing what it can, District 3 Councilwoman Phyllis Viagran said, and others need to pay attention. “Now it’s time to demand that they follow,” she said.
