After a three-year hiatus, Sydney's famous City2Surf celebrated its 50th race this morning. 9News
famous City2Surf is back with more than 60,000 runners expected to sprawl the city's streets from Hyde Park to Bondi Beach.A number of road closures are in place from 3.30am on Sunday until after 4pm, from Macquarie Street in the CBD to Bondi's Queen Elizabeth Drive.Various crossover points were managed until about 7am, before the first runners were set to take their mark at 7.40am. The last group will take off at 9.40am.
Residents between the course and the coastline are being asked to park their vehicle on the other side of the course whilst the race goes ahead. The race kicks off at Hyde Park near Park and College streets, before winding down William Street through Kings Cross tunnel and along New South Head Road. Runners will then take on Vaucluse before curling south onto Old South Head Road and Military Road, and then Bondi.
Roads will progressively start to reopen from 11:30am in the CBD and in the Eastern Suburbs from 1pm.
