At least nine civilians, including two children, are killed in a large-scale US special forces counterterrorism raid in north-western Syria overnight, in what the Pentagon describes as a 'successful mission.'
US special forces carried out what the Pentagon said was a successful, large-scale counterterrorism raid in north-western Syria early on Thursday.The attack happened in Idlib, home to several top Al Qaeda operatives and other militant groupsFirst responders at the scene reported 13 people had been killed, including six children and four women.
They spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of reprisals and said the raid involved helicopters, explosions and machine-gun fire.
