Storms bringing lightning and torrential rain have hit parts of south-east Queensland already devastated by flooding, and the Bureau of Meteorology warns there could be more later today. The Logan River is expected to reach major flood level again after the heavy rainMeteorologist Kimba Wong said a major storm worked its way to Brisbane via Ipswich from the Lockyer Valley, bringing heavy rains to the region early this morning.
"Based on current conditions and forecast rain, it is very likely roads will cut and ground water will rise, blocking your ability to drive out later," a spokesperson said. The storms have also dumped up to 80 millimetres of rain in the Logan River catchment, south of Brisbane, with the BOM warning it will reach major flood level again this morning.
Ms Wong said Brisbane's southside saw the heaviest falls and the Brisbane CBD recorded 49 millimetres in the hour to 6am.
