TikTok user cleaning guru Anne Russell shared a 'simple' solution to tackle those 'unsightly' grey marks that accumulate on plates over time.
Many fear they've ruined their cherished dinnerware when they spot grey streaks. However, the cleaning expert assures there's a straightforward fix. Those grey lines aren't scratches at all; they're metal marks left by cutlery, and with a bit of elbow grease and the right products, they can be wiped away.
Posting an image on her TikTok of a plate with grey streaks, she detailed: "See those grey marks in the middle of the plate? You often see those. That looks like an IKEA plate, they're not shiny, but you do see them on other plates. "They are unsightly, and they are very easy to remove. They are marks from your cutlery, where your cutlery has acted like a crayon."Anne recommends trying out Bar Keepers Friend Original Powder, a multi-purpose cleaner that "cleans, restores and polishes various surfaces". She also suggests using "a little bit of Cif" cream on "on a sponge", or Vim Clorex Powder, which is a scouring powder with "extra whitening" effects.
