Pay differs by conference. Some in Northeast Ohio pay as little as $65 per game, while others are closer to the standard $80 mark. Independent schools, such as St. Edward, St. Ignatius and Benedictine, are already paying officials $100 per game.
CFOA president Brian Crummie and secretary Anthony Bondra declined further comment on the matter Monday, citing a desire to keep their negotiations private with schools and area conferences. However, they noted a resolution could come as soon as this week after meetings with those schools and conferences.
The CFOA seeks pay that is on par with the national average, which it believes would begin with a standard $80 payment per game this year and incremental raises each of the next two years to reach $100 per game by 2024. Pay differs by conference. Some in Northeast Ohio pay as little as $65 per game, while others are closer to the $80 mark.
