In a Tuesday hearing, the city's Civilian Police Review Board recommended heavy discipline for Patrol Officer Michael Glick for actions during a July 4th celebration last year.CLEVELAND, Ohio—A Cleveland police officer accused of storming a Lakewood party while off-duty, pointing his gun at attendees and punching two people in the face, including a 15-year-old, should receive significant punishment, Cleveland’s Civilian Police Review Board concluded during a Tuesday hearing.

“We will have our day in front of the chief,” said Detective Jeff Follmer, president of the union representing patrol officers and detectives. Regardless, Glick walked up the driveway and confronted a woman as she emerged through a fence with a plate of food. A crowd quickly formed, and Adkins rushed in. Before he knew it, he says, Glick punched him in the eye.The punch left Adkins in a state of shock. When adrenaline kicked in, Adkins made an aggressive move toward Glick while others struggled to hold him back.“I’m like, you punched a minor, you punched me, and now you’ve got a gun? Over what?” Adkins recalled.

When officers questioned Glick, who was wearing his badge around his neck, he denied drawing his gun or assaulting anybody, claiming that it was a verbal altercation. Glick also filed his own complaint with Lakewood police a few days after the incident, alleging that a crowd member had intentionally damaged his Jeep with a key. He didn’t follow up.
