Last month, the Bibb administration announced its Raising Investment in Safety for Everyone plan that aims to reduce crime by improving technology to help police solve cases, developing partnerships with other police agencies and creating a marketing plan for police recruitment. The first joint initiative took place on Aug. 15 and 16, as officers fanned out across the city. On Thursday and Friday, law enforcement officers arrested 42 people, seized 28 firearms, recovered 10 stolen vehicles and recovered a variety of drugs, including heroin, crack cocaine, fentanyl, ecstasy and illegal pills.
“That arrest aided our officers to close up to 10 cases or more, and they’re still working on it,” Drummond said. “Because is out working, we’re able to utilize their aviation unit to assist us to make that arrest, which avoided a high-speed pursuit, which as we know are just inherently dangerous.Last week, marshals and police officers made nine arrests. Eight were wanted on charges of aggravated murder.
