Moises Borges provided upbeat Brazilian jazz early in the afternoon, later followed by Taylor Lamborn’s powerful tunes, featuring newer acoustic-focused tracks from her upcoming live album. Crazy8TheGreat rapped about nerdy topics wearing Super Mario sweatpants and a “Dragon Ball Z” vest, and pop-punk band Grumpy Plum put on a high-energy set that included punny jokes and a rousing cover of Phoebe Bridgers’ “Motion Sickness.
Overall, Colony House’s setlist of palatable indie-pop paled in comparison to some of the standout local performances throughout the day. The festival marked a big moment for Cleveland’s music scene, after a few years of funkiness due to the coronavirus pandemic. In the name of safety, the festival still took some precautions – mainly, moving all of its programming outdoors, nixing its indoor art tents and indoor stages.
