International Development and Pacific Minister Pat Conroy says climate change is the “number one security threat” in the Pacific region.

He said the different climate policies between the Pacific nations were “at the heart of the friction” between the previous government and the broader Pacific region.

“In the Pacific, they regard the inaction of climate change under the last Australian government as a critical failure of the relationship,” Mr Conroy told Sky News Australia.
