The court was told that in the days before their arrests, CCTV cameras captured the four activists scoping out Ms O'Neill's ocean-side home before three of them — Lane Rose, Mazza and Noakes — went to the property around 7am on August 1, 2023. Davey's lawyer Anthony Elliott said his client was not a principal in the offences, but was instead an "encourager" who had been part of the planning and preparation for the protest.

That prompted and exchange with chief magistrate Steven Heath, who raised concerns the activists had "crossed the line" because their actions were targeting Ms O'Neill personally.The magistrate raised concerns that Woodside chief executive Meg O'Neill had been targetted personally.Lane Rose's lawyer Zarah Burgess said her client had entered a guilty plea at the earliest opportunity.
