Clive Palmer’s $30 million advertising spend appears to have paid off, with the latest Newspoll revealing his party holds between five and 14 per cent of the primary vote in four marginal seats.
The poll suggests it will be a tight race in the ultra-marginal seat of Herbert, where Mr Palmer’s candidate holds 14 per cent, the Liberals hold 31 per cent, and Labor 29 per cent. Mr Palmer’s preferences could also tip the scale in the Western Australian seat of Pearce, where the poll shows his candidate holds eight per cent of the primary vote. The UAP candidate also holds seven per cent in the bellwether seat of Lindsay, at the foot of the Blue Mountains.
