From being the youngest person elected to Northern Territory parliament to charting the opposition party's path from near oblivion, with initial results showing the CLP will win an outright majority of 15 seats with Territory Labor's standing reduced to just four seats.
"As a born and bred second generation territory kid — the granddaughter of Italian migrants — I grew up living an iconic territory childhood hunting, camping, fishing and playing outside," she told a cheering crowd of supporters.In 2012, Ms Finocchiaro was a territory finalist in the Young Australian of the Year awards, recognised for her advocacy on fairer pay and representation for women.
Ms Finocchiaro held onto the unofficial title of the NT's youngest elected member for two years, until Labor'sThe next few years was a tumultuous period for the CLP, with a string of scandals and infighting leaving the party reduced to just two seats at the 2016 election.
