Addendum to Independent Review into Child Sexual Abuse in Football by Clive Sheldon KC finds watfordfc investigation into allegations against ex-physio Phil Edwards ‘met the standards expected’
In the addendum, Sheldon wrote: “I consider that the Club have carried out a detailed investigation of the allegations involving their former physiotherapist Edwards.
Edwards was found dead at home in 2019, shortly after being arrested on suspicion of sexual activity with a child at his private physiotherapy clinic in Watford. The Sheldon report released in 2021 said that Watford had conducted their investigations diligently up to that point. In a statement, Watford FC said: “As a club, Watford FC wishes to apologise to all young people who experienced the behaviour perpetrated by the late Phil Edwards, while holding a position of influence and access within the club.
