Manchester City winger Cole Palmer has had a bright start to the season with the Blues but wants to consider his options
Cole Palmer suggested that a new signing could push him out of the door at Manchester City after helping them win the Super Cup.
Palmer, who struggled for opportunities last season, started in his favoured position of the right wing after coming on to score in the Community Shield against Arsenal and bagged the equaliser in Athens. City had been struggling to get their play going, yet Palmer struck with a looping header to ultimately earn them the penalty shootout that they proved clinical in to add another trophy to their collection.
Pep Guardiola refused to say after the game whether the player would stay at the club this season though, indicating that he would either remain part of the group or be sold. Brighton and West Ham are among the teams interested in getting him, although the Blues boss appears to have ruled out a loan move.
Palmer described City as the best choice for him this season at the moment, but puffed his cheeks out when he talked of the club bringing in extra competition; the Blues are chasing winger Jeremy Doku, albeit Rennes are demanding a steep fee for the 21-year-old. As much as Palmer has been happy to get opportunities early in the season at City, he wants to take the decision that will allow him to play regular football this season and needs convincing that it can happen at the Etihad.
"I just want to play regularly, like lots of minutes and stuff so we will see. I just want to play football. So whatever the best decision is when we speak together, that is what I will do."
