A judge has praised members of the public who confronted a man walking on a Coleraine street while armed with a knife.
Corrie Gordon, 23, from Cappagh Avenue in Portstewart, appeared at Ballymena Magistrates' Court by video link on Thursday.The charges relate to an to an incident on the Bushmills Road on Wednesday.Refusing bail, district judge Nigel Broderick told the court that members of the public had "exhibited extreme bravery" in confronting the man "who was armed with a dangerous weapon".
A defence solicitor said Mr Gordon "enjoyed the presumption of innocence" and said "robust bail conditions" could be put in place.The defendant was remanded into custody. He will appear in court again on 10 July.
