Coles and Woolworths rival attends supermarket price inquiry
Ritchies Stores CEO, Fred Harrison has told Sky News Australia of his decision to attend the Senate supermarket inquiry as one of Coles and Woolworths' biggest rivals.“You don’t get these opportunities that often and the government have called out that they wanted a review and it’s no good being a wallflower, and thinking all the things you might say,” Mr Harrison told Sky News Business Editor Ross Greenwood.
“Instead, we wanted to be on the front foot and come out with genuine ideas, not pipe dreams but something that we believe passionately about. “We see it day by day, we’re trying to get insights and it’s frustrating that landlords go to Coles, Woolies first and second, then Aldi and if those three guys don’t like insights, then they come to us – there has to be a better way and a fairer way.”
