A North Carolina college student who lost his life after tackling a gunman who opened fire in his classroom has been honored as a Jedi by the production company for the Star Wars franchise.Police said Mr Howell's tackle"took the assailant off his feet", but he was fatally woundedone of two students who died in the April 30 shooting
at the University of North Carolina-Charlotte, was hailed by police as a hero for preventing more injuries and deaths. Mr Howell was described as a huge Star Wars fan. In May, the fan relations team for Lucasfilm wrote a letter to Howell's family expressing condolences. "Riley's courage and selflessness brings out the Jedi in all of us," wrote fan relations team member Lucas Seastrom.Mr Seastrom told the family"a small tribute" would be incorporated into the book Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker — The Visual Dictionary, which was published to coincide with the release of the new film Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
