over the weekend was able to obtain the firearm used in the attack given the man’s troubled history, according to two law-enforcement officials familiar with the matter. Over a year ago, police confiscated firearms from the suspect, 22-year-old Anderson Lee Aldrich, after he held his family hostage at gunpoint, according to the officials. During the June 2021 incident, Mr. Aldrich’s mother told police her son was threatening to hurt her with a homemade bomb, weapons and ammunition, according to an El Paso County Sheriff’s Office account of the incident at the time.
