Colourful Sydney property developer Jean Nassif has flown to rural Lebanon and will not front a parliamentary inquiry into the alleged role NSW Liberal councillors played in his developments in the city’s north-west.
In his letter Nassif also took aim at retiring Transport Minister David Elliott, alleging Elliott tried to “discredit internal opponents ... by association with me with a view for Mr Elliott to retain his seat in parliament”. Amato, who was dumped from the Liberals’ upper house ticket to make way for a female candidate, told Dominic Perrottet he was removed from the committee to make way for another Liberal, Chris Rath, without warning or explanation.
“To date, I have received no formal notification from the Leader of the Government or yourself concerning this action, which is unprecedented and very disrespectful to me as a member of the Legislative Council and as a member of the NSW Parliamentary Liberal Party.”
