With just under seven weeks until their first game, the Crew began preseason training on Monday — and got their first impression of their new coach.

, Wilfried Nancy ran his first training session, and his new players got their first look at their new manager. The group spent just over an hour working in the bubble at Historic Crew Stadium. Nancy began with a short video session, laying the groundwork for the style of play he will slowly install to his new team.

" really receptive," Nancy said."It’s normal, it’s the first day, so we’ll see in a couple of weeks, but I know that the group is ready for that. Good spirit. Really good spirit and a desire to get better, a desire to do good things and with a smile. I was happy with that." At over 6 feet tall, Nancy cuts an imposing figure as he walks around the field, and at times he stopped drills to more deeply explain what he wanted players to be focusing on. But when a player gets it right, he's quick to praise their effort, and a smile is never far from his face.
