San Diegan Shane Harris joins Olympic volleyball silver medalist Kim Glass and a panel of experts on the 'Dr. Phil' show to discuss crime and punishment
There is no “one size fits all” when it comes to reforming the criminal justice system.
Shane, schooled in the Bethel Baptist church, occasionally gives guest sermons, but he preaches more often from a round table than from a pulpit. It centers on former Olympic volleyball silver medalist Kim Glass. She was brutally attacked on an L.A. street last July by a man who threw a 10-inch metal bolt that severely lacerated her right eye. The assailant, who had been convicted of felony assaults as recently as 2018 and 2019, was free on parole at the time.
“This was an amazing life-changing experience for me,” says Harris, 30, who regularly speaks on law enforcement reform. He runs his own public relations business, S Harris Communications, targeting nonprofits and specializing in giving a voice to small businesses run by minorities.
