Two years from Friday, Cleveland will be in the path of totality of a solar eclipse, something that no part of Ohio has experienced since 1806 and won’t again until 2099, said Chris Hartenstine, public engagement lead with NASA Glenn Research Center.

A total solar eclipse is coming to Cleveland on April 8, 2024.CLEVELAND, Ohio – There are two more attractions being touted as reasons to come to Cleveland. The sun and the moon.

A total solar eclipse occurs when the moon passes between the sun and Earth, darkening the skies and casting the moon’s shadow across a section of Earth’s surface. A total solar eclipse occurs somewhere in the world about every 18 months. Hartenstine said he viewed one from Jefferson City, Missouri, in 2017 as a “dress rehearsal for our time in the spotlight, or spotdark, if you will.”
