The San Antonio River Authority fulfills many duties and services for its constituents in Bexar, Wilson, Karnes and Goliad counties.

The river authority’s top concern is keeping lives, property and our natural environment safe and secure from the devastating effects of major flooding. As the local expert on flood risk and as a cooperating technical partner with Federal Emergency Management Agency, the river authority encourages you to review the newest draft flood plain maps. It’s been more than 10 years since there was a wholesale update of the maps in our area. The updated maps incorporate newer rainfall events, improved land use and topographical data, flood control projects that have been implemented, and growth and development that has occurred in our community.

At the open houses, attendees will have the opportunity to look up any property of interest within Bexar County. River authority engineers and staff from the city of San Antonio and other government agencies will be available to answer questions on flood insurance, floodplain regulations, and upcoming or potential projects relating to flooding and drainage in the area.
