A BBC commentator has been criticised by fans after he broke one of the job's golden rules. Jonathan Pearce has left many viewers frustrated during the Women's World Cup match as France played against Morocco on Tuesday, August 8.

Pearce was heard speaking during the French national anthem. He was heard talking to a colleague as La Marseillaise rang out around the stadium, asking: "Was I on air then? Can someone tell me was I on air there" reports The Daily Express.After the incident, a number of viewers took to Twitter to slam Pearce for talking whilst a national anthem was playing. One fan said: "Someone tell Jonathan Pearce it's disrespectful to speak over a national anthem.
