The head of the Lawyer X royal commission has slammed Nicola Gobbo after an interview was aired last night just days after her legal team claimed she was to unwell to give evidence. 9News
The hearing resumed after the ABC aired the explosive interview with Ms Gobbo last night, where she said the police were her greatest fear because they might either "kill me or to lead to a position where I am killed".
"Anything I did or didn't do was at the behest and control, and with the full knowledge and imprimatur of Victoria Police," Ms Gobbo said. Mr Ashton has defended the force against Ms Gobbo's claims, saying if she had an issue she should raise it with the anti-corruption watchdog IBAC.The chief commissioner was in the witness box at an inquiry into the underworld lawyer's informing yesterday, but spoke to reporters outside about Ms Gobbo's safety fears.Ms Gobbo was a registered informer three times on and off between 1996 and 2009, ratting on clients including drug kingpin Tony Mokbel and underworld killer Carl Williams.
