Hundreds gathered in Madrid on Monday to protest the behaviour of the Spanish Football Federation’s disgraced president Luis Rubiales. Mr Rubiales is facing continued pressure to resign after after he kissed midfielder Jennifer Hermoso on the lips during the trophy presentation at the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Sydney earlier this month. Ms Hermoso said the kiss was not consensual and that she was a a victim of aggression and an impulsive act that was “sexist and out of place”.

Spanish Football Federation President Luis Rubiales ordered to resignThe Spanish Football Federation has called on President Luis Rubiales to resign in the wake of the controversial Women’s World Cup final kiss in Sydney. In a statement, a Spanish FA spokesperson said: “after the unacceptable behaviours that seriously damaged the image of Spanish football, Mr Rubiales is asked to immediately present his resignation as president”. It comes as Spanish prosecutors open pre-trial inquiries into Mr Rubiales' conduct after he was suspended by FIFA.
