A Commonwealth-wide poll revealed Prince William is favoured to take over from King Charles III 'sooner rather than later'.
The poll was set up by Lord Ashcroft, a prominent businessman, pollster and former chairman of the Conservative Party and published on Wednesday by the Express newspaper.
One respondent from New Zealand believes Charles has"done a lot wrong" while William is"doing exceptionally well" and people are"invested in" the Prince and Princess of Wales. The last time a British Monarch abdicated was in December 1936 when King Edward VIII gave up the throne to marry twice-divorced American socialite Wallis Simpson.
Another New Zealander believes William and Kate have the power to draw crowds"twice or three times the size" of the current monarchs during royal tours.
