Diplomatic channels open but 'shadows' darken Aus-China relations: Spokesperson Wang | Sky News AustraliaTop Chinese diplomat Wang Xining claimed there were “some shadows” darkening the relationship between China and Australia in a speech to the National Press Club.\n\nWhen probed by Sky News host Kieran Gilbert about the state of the strategic partnership given the poor communication between Australian cabinet ministers and their counterparts in Beijing, Mr Wang said there was a need to clarify the relationship in order to remove the shadows.\n\n“Let the sun shine on our relationship,” he said.\n\nMr Wang said due to the coronavirus it was “not possible to organise face-to-face exchange between leaders of countries and even senior ministers”.\n\nHe claimed diplomatic channels between the two nations were “always open”.\n\n“It is easy for us to talk about the issues. China doesn't interfere in Australia's internal affairs: Chinese Embassy | Sky News AustraliaChinese Embassy Deputy Head Wang Xining has claimed 'China does not interfere in Australia's internal affairs', calling on the two governments to adhere to the principles of “respect, goodwill, fairness and vision”.\n\nAddressing the National Press Club, Mr Wang said “we should respect sovereignty and integrity … we should respect each other's legal system and rule of law, and refrain from interrupting the other's legal proceedings and undertakings”.\n\n“The last thing China wants to do is to inflict on others what China suffered. Or to bully others as we were bullied,” he said.\n\nReflecting on the principle of 'goodwill', Mr Wang claimed both Australia and China needed to “embrace equality, freedom' and needed to 'uphold justice and the rule of law”.\n\nHe caveated the statement with the reminder “most importantly we both wish the other to live as aspired by choosing a methodology that we find fit and proper for ourselves”.\n\nThe Chinese spokesperson went on to highlight the mutual aid, diplomacy, trade and goodwill between the nations while equally highlighting the value of Communism over the failures of Capitalist 'consumerism'.\n\n“A fair, open, non- discriminant policy, and regulatory environment that offers strongest market predictability, financial stability and legal reliability does enormous good to our business,” he said. \n\nLooking at the final principle of ‘vision’ Mr Wang said Australia and China should look to move beyond the commercial partnership to becoming strategic partners in the Asia-Pacific region.\n\n'As China and Australia sit geographically at the two ends of this region, trade and investment between us not only generate value investment between us … but will also bring opportunities to third-party business, instill vitality in neighbouring economies,' Mr Wang said.\n\n\n
