A compensation programme has been launched for abuse survivors of the Jesus Army. The Jesus Fellowship Community Trust – otherwise known as the Jesus Army – has published its long-awaited compensation scheme for survivors of abuse in the now-defunct religious sect.
In 2019, ex-members told the BBC how children suffered abuse on a "prolific scale", with most claims relating to incidents between the 1970s and 1990s.In recent years, allegations of financial, emotional, physical and sexual abuse from both children and adults have surfaced. A number of people have been convicted of carrying out abuse at the Jesus Fellowship Church, which has since issued an apology.
Mr Johnson said: “I have been honoured to represent the Jesus Fellowship Survivors Association, which has worked tirelessly with the church to bring this long-awaited compensation scheme into being. At NorthantsLive we're more than just news. We cover what people are talking about every day and celebrate the very best that this incredible part of the world has to offer.“What happened to many people in the Jesus Army is appalling.
