Trade and Tourism Minister Don Farrell claimed the current Labor government has begun to turn over a new leaf with China without 'kowtowing' to Beijing, and welcomed the immense trade figures between the two nations.
Trade and Tourism Minister Don Farrell denies Australia is 'kowtowing' to China amid visit from Premier Li Qiang
“Overwhelmingly, that trading relationship is in Australia’s favour, more than $100 billion more of sales from Australia to China than China to Australia. “Over the period of that two years, we have managed now to remove all of the trade impediments, resulting in about $19 billion more in trade with the Chinese and there’s one remaining product outstanding and that’s lobsters, and I will again raise that issue with my Chinese counterpart,” Mr Farrell said.
“I’d love to see the trading relationship increase two-fold, I’d love to see there being a liberation of some of the trading arrangements and I think that is to the mutual benefit of both China and Australia,” Mr Dutton said.
