Firefighters remain at a Melbourne factory where a massive blaze erupted two days ago after a chemical explosion , with residents again warned about nearby waterways due to firewater runoff.A"complex and dangerous environment" could see authorities having to remain at the scene of a massive factory fire in Melbourne 's west for several weeks.

In an update on Friday afternoon, Fire Rescue Victoria said about 20 firefighters remained at the scene as there were still hotspots which needed to be supressed. The blaze was declared under control four hours after firefighters were called to the scene. Picture: NewsWire / Andrew Henshaw Firefighters who attended the scene are being assessed by medical and safety officers given potential exposure risks due to the nature of the blaze.

Meanwhile, the EPA on Friday reminded residents to avoid waterways south of the factory due to firewater runoff.
