Up to 150 victims of domestic and personal violence in NSW have been left vulnerable after a computer error changed the expiry date on thousands of Apprehended Violence Orders (AVOs). The IT error impacted 1.9% of the department's 249,905 AVOs, bringing forward the expiry dates by weeks or even months. Exactly 4748 AVOs were affected, with 150 court orders wrongly listed as expired.

"When you have 250,000 AVOs that have been ordered by the courts, 2 per cent starts to add up quickly," Minns said.
