The mayor of a Sydney council area home to the city's two growing coronavirus clusters says she is extremely concerned about the spread of the virus in her community after locals were not wearing masks on the weekend.
"Yesterday when I did my shopping locally I was the only one wearing a mask, yet a month ago everybody was wearing a mask," Cr Waller said. There have been at least 26 cases linked to a coronavirus outbreak at Liverpool Hospital, dubbed the facility's "dialysis cluster", including a healthcare worker from the hospital identified last week after nearly a fortnight without identified transmission.
"Wearing masks on public transport will help us to stop the spread, save lives, save jobs and keep our economy going during this difficult time," Opposition transport spokesman Chris Minns said on Sunday.
