The synthetic grass field at Chatswood High School is falling apart and being strewn across the basketball court, in gutters and neighbouring streets.

Dozens of synthetic turf fields across Sydney are falling apart, prompting environmental and health concerns about the rubber and plastic being spread.

"Will council please do something about the problem... considering the oval is very new, just about 1 year old, the condition of the field is very bad." It also said tens of hundreds of kilos of rubber could be washed into stormwater systems and waterways if changes weren't made to the synthetic turfs across the state.
