Residents of southern Tasmania have been urged to keep an eye out for fake $100 notes which police say have been circulating in the community.

“Please be aware that these notes are circulating and check that the cash you are handling is legitimate,” the police notice said. Southern Tasmania includes the greater Hobart area, the Huon Valley and towns like Southport, Kingston and Richmond. “Please be aware that these notes are circulating and check that the cash you are handling is legitimate.”
