The Nigeria international has been much-maligned but Connor Goldson reckons he can have the last laugh.
Now he believes it can be the turn of team-mate Cyriel Dessers in a must-win crunch. The Nigeria striker is aiming to get off the derby mark in Glasgow having drawn two blanks since signing. Dessers missed a golden opportunity at Celtic Park having also been snuffed out at Ibrox. However, the 29-year-old has still bagged 18 for the season and has responded superbly to the arrival of boss Philippe Clement by regularly delivering.
Scoring against Celtic would cement Dessers in the hearts of the fans and Goldson continued: “Of course, but at the same time he just needs to keep doing it every single game. Netting in front of 50,000 Rangers fans would offer a better feeling, but he reasoned: “Obviously, it would be amazing. But, at the same time, I really don’t care.
The Celtic striker has escaped the centre-back to net winners in each of this term’s two meetings of the sides. Goldson recognises the threat and said: “He is obviously an important player for them, he scores goals.” “That is something that, in an Old Firm, you have to be and you have to take your chances when they come. “When our own opportunities come we need to be clinical and we need to limit them if possible.”
