Fred Malek, a conservative fundraiser and former president of Marriott Hotels and Northwest Airlines who also served in two presidential administrations, has died, the American Action Network announced on Monday.

He was 82.

For the past 40 years, Malek worked with every Republican presidential nominee except Donald Trump, and served as assistant to former Presidents Richard Nixon and George H.W. Bush. Although he did not serve in George W. Bush’s administration, Malek co-owned the Texas Rangers with him before he became president. Bush also nominated Malek in 2008 to the Board of Visitors of the United States Military Academy at West Point, Malek’s alma mater.The 2020 Election. The New Congress.

While working in the Nixon administration, Malek was involved in a memo that was seen as a major act of anti-Semitism by the United States government. American Action Network’s president, Dan Conston, also said in a statement that “Fred touched the lives of countless Americans, always driven by his love of country and boundless energy.”
