The Senate inquiry into consultants has ordered firms to be 'open and honest' in the wake of the PwC tax scandal, as it handed down recommendations for strict new rules and stronger oversight on firms working for the government.

"The reality is PricewaterhouseCoopers really just took us into this world that we can hardly believe," she told Sky News Australia's Business Now. PwC appointed international law firm Linklaters to investigate the sharing of Australian tax information with members of the firm outside of Australia. It also argues the government should clarify and tighten rules around conflicts of interest, as well as task the Australian Law Reform Commission with reviewing and reporting back on possible"regulatory governance and oversight of structures" for firms with more than 100 partners.
