Dozens of homes will be built in Coppull despite objections from hundreds of residents as a councillor warned rejecting the plan would be "p***ing in the wind".

Cllr Berry said: “Why should people live with pumps in their cellars? That’s the extent of people living round Tanyard Avenue. They have pumps in their cellars and now we’re being asked to create this area that’s open.
Mr Kidd-Rossiter added that the council is unable to provide a five year supply of housing and this development would provide 30% affordable homes as well as “extensive landscaping provision and open space” and junction improvements. He said: “We consider that the proposals amount to sustainable development and will deliver a high quality residential scheme which caters for local needs.”
