A family have been taken to hospital after they used a common, but dangerous, device to heat their home. 9News
Paramedics attended the home in Merrylands just before 5am, where they treated two children and four adults.
"I was sleeping and my older brother came knocking on my door, 'just come out, we need help', 'we're not feeling well, just please call the ambulance'," he said. Paramedics rushed to the scene amid reports one person in the household had become ill with "headaches".It was only when family members showed paramedics photographs of the burner they began to understand exactly what had taken place.
Fire and Rescue NSW has released images of the cooker to show people what to be aware of, as temperatures continue to stay low through winter.
