New South Wales Police have cracked down 'hard' on a disturbing new youth crime trend that continues to leave families in regional towns fearing for their safety.

Police in NSW , Queensland and Victoria coming down 'hard' on young criminals who ' post and boast ' crimes to social media

Some of the worst-affected towns in the state's west such as Dubbo, Tamworth, Moree, Orange, Gunnedah and Bourke, have seen 664 break and enters and 591 car thefts. "The reason that they're doing it is, essentially, around notoriety and boasting about the level of offending and daring each other to go one step further," Asst Comm Smith said.

"There's strong circumstantial evidence provided by NSW Police that this exhibition-like behaviour is encouraging further criminal behaviour," Premier Chris Minns said.Speaking to The Daily Telegraph, Catie, a resident in the town of Orange said she has witnessed cars on streets being set alight on a"semi-regular" occurrence."I thought it was gunshots at first, bang bang bang, then I saw it," she said.
