Seager went 3 for 5 with a pair of home runs and 5 RBIs in the Rangers’ 7-3 win over the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday night.
Seager became the ninth Ranger this season with five RBIs in a game, the most in MLB.. Seager also had five RBIs against the Chicago White Sox on June 20, and four RBIs in three other games.
So the Rangers lead baseball in that offensive stat. Same goes for total hits , double-digit hit games , double-digit run games and times they’ve forced an opposing team to trot out a position player pitcher . They also lead the AL in runs scored , and are second MLB-wide to only the Atlanta Braves .
“There’s some really good hitters in the lineup, to put it simply,” Bochy said. “When you look at the numbers they have ... it’s not just one guy. I mean, Corey, we all know how good he is. But you look at Marcus [Semien], Adolis [Garcia], [Nathaniel] Lowe. Josh Jung is out right now, Mitch Garver is swinging it well. Really, it’s throughout the lineup.”
All nine Rangers starters reached base on Tuesday. No. 9 hitter Travis Jankowski walked to lead off the third inning and came around to score on a Marcus Semien triple to make it 1-0. Seager then belted the first pitch of his third-inning bat into the Angels’ bullpen to make it 3-0.
