After investing in Newton and Ridley, regular Coronation Street character Ronnie Bailey was convinced that he was set to make some decent profit. In hope of a quick cash turnover, viewers had previously seen the character taking financial advice from Debbie Webster as she urges him to invest in the company after catching wind of its upcoming sale to Waterfords.
Debbie had assured Ronnie that stocks in the company were about to skyrocket, leaving him confident that he was likely to see an impressive return on his investment. Debbie’s unfortunate bombshell comes as she storms her way into the café, looking flustered. With a newspaper in her hands, she asks Ronnie if he has heard the news. A confused Ronnie seems unbothered at first, and points to the article about his investment.
Ronnie can be seen entering into a visible state of panic. Looking completely crestfallen he said: “This is a disaster. Will they go back up?” to which Debbie bites back: “Who am I? Mystic Meg? I’ve no idea.” causing Ronnie to tell Debbie that he should never have listened to her.
