Western Australia has recorded one new coronavirus case as authorities tighten restrictions to stamp out the spread of Covid.
WA authorities met overnight to discuss potential risks associated with recent positive cases and as a result, West Australians will need to show proof they are double vaccinated against Covid-19 to enter the state’s biggest horse racing event on New Years Day. The backpacker, originally from France, arrived in Perth from Queensland when the state’s border was open. He got sick on Sunday December 19 and got tested for Covid-19 on Wednesday, December 22. The following morning, police used phone tower data to track him to an Airbnb in the city where he was asleep and unaware that his test was positive.
