Australia’s coronavirus cases have passed 6500 as authorities scramble to get on top of outbreaks at nursing homes and hospitals.
Almost 30 staff and residents at Anglicare’s Newmarch House in Caddens in western Sydney have been diagnosed with the coronavirus after a worker attended the facility for six consecutive days with mild symptoms and later tested positive.
Meanwhile, more than 80 of the Tasmania's 180 COVID-19 cases are directly linked to an outbreak at the North West Regional Hospital and North West Private Hospital at Burnie, with dozens of workers among them.
